Human Trafficking : Traditional Medicine Practitioners Seeks Collaboration of Stakeholders To End Scourge

The Traditional Medicine Practitioners of Nigeria , have described Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration as “Evil Trade ” that demand collaboration of all stakeholders to put an end to.
The President of the group , Prof Omon Ohiabhele, stated this while speaking at a stakeholders meeting on Saturday in Benin .
The stakeholders meeting has as its theme: “Traditional Medicine and Its Practice For Wealth Creation , Strategies Against Human Trafficking : The Role of the Traditional Medicine Practitioners. ”
While describing human trafficking as a modern day slavery , he said the fight against the menace , in addition to Illegal Migration, must not be left to the Government alone.
While regretting that Edo have been said to be major hub for the illicit activities , he said the traditional Medicine practitioners would partner Edo Government in the fight against the scourge .
According to him , “ We are determined to assist in the fight against human trafficking by identifying victims and traffickers . Crimes such as this, flourish when major stakeholders fold their arms and do nothing .
“ Our aim is to provide practical guidance on how practitioners in the sector can take proactive measures against Modern - day slavery of Nigerian youths .”
The group commended the Oba of Benin , Oba Ewuare II , for his roles , so far , to combat the menace.
While addressing the Practitioners, the Senior Special Assistant to Gov Godwin Obaseki on Anti Human Trafficking Issues , Mr Solomon Okoduwa , lauded them for their intent to join hands with government to fight the scourge of human trafficking .
Okoduwa said that the desire of the Governor is to see that Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration, is totally eradicated from the State.
“ The Governor is working tirelessly to bring investors to Edo to create job opportunities, reduce youth restiveness and boost our economy ,” he assured
